I am an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of North Texas.  My research interests are diverse, but most of the time I focus on topics related to international & civil conflict, international migration, politics & the environment, ethnic politics, and human rights.  You can find a list of my work at the research link to the left.

My new book, Rebels Without Borders: Transnational Insurgencies in World Politics, is now available at Cornell University Press. In addition, I have published articles in the following journals: the American Journal of Political Science, Civil Wars, International Organization, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, the Journal of Politics, Political Research Quarterly, Regulation & Governance, and World Politics.

I grew up in California and received my PhD from UC San Diego in 2006.   At one time or another, I have lived, worked, or studied in Spain, Mexico, Norway, the UK, and Switzerland.  Now I call Denton, Texas my home. Denton is a cool college town just north of Dallas with a great arts and music scene. When I'm not buried under a stack of books or grading exams, you may be able to spot me at a local show.
