Class Study 4

Do children of single-parent families succeed as well as children of two-parent families in French as a foreign language? To answer this question, a researcher gathers data from two high schools that have large numbers of students with single-parent families. The data consist of whether the child passed or failed French (SUC) and what kind of family (FAM) the child has. The researcher runs a chi-square statistic on these data.

Create an ASCII datafile using Notepad. Save the file as "c4.txt." Use SPSS to read your ASCII file and then save it as an SPSS data file.
